An expressive arts support group for teen girls.
Our program is designed for teens. New sessions begin each September & April, meeting afternoons and evenings in New Paltz and Montgomery, NY. We also host a group for mothers and daughters together.
It's a Girl Thing grew from my recognition that teens - and their parents - benefit from the opportunity to learn about themselves in an environment that is warm, intelligent, student-led, family-focused, and safe. An environment in which all questions, insights, and interests are welcomed.
At It's a Girl Thing, important learning takes place, community-building is supported, students and parents enjoy the learning process, anxiety is reduced, and students and teachers have the chance to relax into into learning about themselves and different topics so important to healthy, whole living.
In addition, It's a Girl Thing will hold weekend retreats in Montgomery, NY beginning in July, 2016.
Letters of recommendation are available on this site. We warmly encourage you to read responses from middle and high school students, educators, and parents.
We welcome your questions, thoughts, and concerns. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you in person. We recognize the importance of meeting face-to-face, of developing a trusting relationship, and of understanding what, why, and how we work together.
Check out the many things we offer for teens. You'll be surprised about the relaxed environment we have.
