A: It’s a girl thing+ is a private practice founded by amy frisch, lcswr in 1997. the group practice has offices in new paltz and montgomery and provides psychotherapy services for all ages and genders. igt+ specializes in work with adolescent females, including weekend retreats and expressive art support groups, and groups for women raising teens. igt+ believes strongly in collaboration with the community and bridging the gaps of unmet needs and services.

Q:what kinds of activities do you offer?

A: Activities are designed to meet the needs of the specific participants and their interests or activity level needs. you might find us collaborating on a community service project, exploring a new art medium like pour-paint, or in the middle of a slime making contest. Every activity is geared towards increasing self awareness and social emotional learning.

Q: if my student attends 2 times/week, does it have to be on the same days?

A: NO! we understand that life is full and parent/student needs change from week to week, so join us for whatever two days work best in your schedule, just let us know on mondays so we know when to expect your child that week.

Q: what if i’m running late for pick up?

A: we get it, sometimes things happen. please do your level best to arrive on time but if you’re running late, give us a call, and drive safely!! we’ll be here when you arrive.

Q: my child has food allergies, can you accommodate him?

A: of course we can and will!

Q: what are the rules for participants?

A: we discuss our agreements of working together as a group in the beginning of each quarter. it is imperative that this environment is one that is safe and inclusive for all. non-negotiables are: respect to self, others and property, no illegal substance use of any kind, & you must stay on-site until a parent/guardian picks you up.

Q: My child takes medication in the afternoon. can she bring it with her? A; no, students cannot carry medication with them for the safety of all, but we will gladly keep your child’s medication that you provide in a prescription bottle stored in our lock box and staff will administer as instructed per the physician.

Q: my 7th grader has a hard time making friends. how can i reassure her that she won’t be bullied at beyond the bell?
